About Us

The Sparks Collaborative Ensemble is a working group of artists diverse in age, gender identity, ethnicity, ability and artforms – creating joyous stories none of us could make alone. Stories that inspire you to look up and look sideways, to reach out and embrace this complicated world.

Sparks Creative Stories began in the first months of pandemic lockdown, when kids were scared and isolated – so we began performing bedtime plays live on the telephone.

Now Sparks Creative Stories has grown into online audiobooks illustrated by internationally-known visual artists, by organizations helping make the world a better place for everyone to live, and by kids like you.

The Sparks Collaborative Ensemble

is led by playwright and audio producer Sheila Cowley as a welcoming creative team where professional and emerging artists of all ages and backgrounds, and artists with physical and developmental disabilities all work together.

Each story you experience started with an idea, and grew as many different people shared their skills and creativity.

Our most popular story to date, Isaac’s Firetruck,
was a request from an
enthusiastic fan of our live telephone performances.

—You can use our Contact Page to let us know what kind of story you’d like Sparks to make!
